CALIF. DEMOCRATIC PARTY OFFERS TRANS SUPPORT FOR ENDA
Posted in news on Feb 15th, 2008
In view of the recent exclusion of Transgender persons from the Federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), the Santa Barbara County Democratic Central Committee reaffirmed its support (on behlaf of the California Democratic Party) for full legal equality, including anti-discrimination protection at all levels for Transgender people and other members of the LGBT community who express their gender in non-normative ways.
It was particularly noted the Transgender people are among the most marginalized and vulnerable groups within the LGBT community - with 57% having reported past employment discrimination and 60% earning less than $15,300 annually.
